Never did I interfere in OSP's work - Godfred Dame
Godfred Yeboah Dame defended his relationship with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as immediate past Attorney General, insisting he "never interfered with the anti-corruption body's work during his tenure." He said he was "shocked and perplexed" by the current legal battle involving the Attorney General's office and the OSP on JoyNews PM Express. He argued that comments by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng were linked to court rulings in the Cecilia Dapaah matter and not government interference.
Mr. Dame said he deliberately kept his distance from the institution's operational work, even though Mr. Agyebeng was his classmate. He said, "Never once did I issue any direction to the Special Prosecutor. Never at all," and "Never once did I write a single letter to him." He stated that when he was Attorney General, Mr. Agyebeng visited him twice as a friend, and they discussed social matters. He also dismissed suggestions that he used his office to influence investigations involving members of the opposition New Patriotic Party, and said his involvement in the case involving Paul Adom-Otchere was strictly professional.
