NASPAA urges national service personnel to join two-day flood cleanup exercise
The National Service Personnel Association (NASPAA) called on National Service Personnel to participate in a two-day National General Cleaning Exercise declared by the Presidency to support post-flood recovery efforts. In a communiqué issued on Wednesday, July 8, NASPAA urged all service personnel to take part in the exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, within their respective regions, districts, municipalities, institutions, and communities of service. The exercise, themed "Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the floods," aims to desilt choked drains, sweep major roads, and clean public spaces. NASPAA stated, "As young people serving the nation, we have a responsibility to demonstrate patriotism, discipline and commitment to community development."
The call followed the Presidency's declaration of the two days as National General Cleaning Days in the seven regions affected by recent floods. NASPAA directed its Regional, District, and Municipal executives to work closely with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), security agencies, institutional heads, and waste management teams for effective mobilization. Service personnel were advised to make themselves available and, where possible, bring appropriate cleaning tools, and to cooperate fully with authorities coordinating activities.
