NADMO begins registration of Odawna rubber market fire victims
NADMO began the registration of victims affected by the recent fire at the Odawna Rubber Market in Accra. The data collection exercise aims to determine the exact number of people impacted by the fire and ensure that only genuine victims are captured for any potential support. So far, 137 people have been registered. Officials noted that some individuals are attempting double registration, which is slowing down the process.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service have warned traders not to resume business activities tomorrow, as investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing. A meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow at 10am between NADMO, the Fire Service, and association leaders to discuss safety guidelines and measures to prevent future fire outbreaks. Nana Obeng Marfo, an executive member of the association, urged traders to avoid double registration, stressing that it could affect the fair distribution of any relief support.
