Miracles Aboagye claims Judiciary is becoming 'too close' to the Executive
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aspiring National Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), alleged on JoyNews' PM Express on Tuesday that Ghana's judiciary is becoming "too close" to the Executive. He argued that this perceived relationship is undermining public confidence in the justice system and is among the key reasons for the NPP's planned demonstration. Mr. Aboagye stated, "The selective justice, the selective application of our justice system, is also obvious to all of us. It's become even now blatant."
Mr. Aboagye disclosed that he formally wrote a letter to the Chief Justice to express his concerns about what he believes is an unhealthy relationship between the judiciary and the Executive. He stated, "I wrote a letter to His Lordship, the Chief Justice… where I itemized my worry about his relationship and his romance with the executive, and the fact that it's becoming too glaring." The Judicial Secretary issued a statement addressing some of the issues Mr. Aboagye raised, but he maintained that his concerns remain unresolved.
