Manasseh Azure says key evidence in MASLOC case strengthened Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu's defence

Manasseh Azure Awuni suggested on Saturday, August 1, on JoyNews' Newsfile, that evidence in the case against former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu strengthened her defence, contributing to her acquittal and discharge by the Court of Appeal. He analyzed portions of the appellate court's judgment, specifically evidence related to the alleged return of funds by a beneficiary identified as Obaatanpa.

Mr. Awuni stated that a close reading of both the High Court and Court of Appeal judgments revealed significant gaps in the prosecution's account of how the money was allegedly returned to MASLOC. He quoted, "From all the narration, there is only one person that is, if the account of Obaatanpa is to be believed, there was only one individual at MASLOC who knew about this return of funds." He argued that if the money had been paid through official channels, the transaction would have been known by several officers, not a single individual. The evidence suggested funds were allegedly handed over in cash during a meeting away from the institution's premises, at Batsona Total.
