Kurt Okraku - A man of two versions
Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), spent 17 minutes rebuking the Black Stars in their dining room after they drew against Niger during a 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. Kurt Okraku also took a microphone and told the world that a coach he hired to manage Ghana's senior national team was a "trial and error technical brain." He made this statement during the unveiling of Milovan Rajevac in September 2021.
Since Kurt Okraku took over the reigns of Ghana football in October 2019, Ghana has become a recurring host of youth football competitions. Ghana has hosted the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Cape Coast in June 2022, the WAFU B U-20 Girls Championship in Kumasi in June 2023, the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Legon in May 2024, the WAFU B Girls Championship at Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in December 2024, and the CAF African Schools Football Championship in Legon in April 2025. On Monday, April 27, 2026, Mr. Okraku posted on his Facebook page, "2027 U-20 Boys AFCON to be Hosted by Ghana."
Ghana will host the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2027. Ghana has hosted 5 youth tournaments in the last 4 years and will host the U-20 African Youth Championships for the first time in 27 years.
