Korle Bu struggling to cope with rising emergency cases - Accident & Emergency head

He noted that Korle Bu has become the preferred referral center due to its specialist expertise and relatively affordable care. Many patients are referred from public hospitals, including some tertiary facilities, for specialized treatment or because they cannot afford care elsewhere. Dr. Bulley also expressed concern that stabilized patients are often transferred through Korle Bu's Emergency Department instead of being admitted directly to specialist wards, worsening congestion. Critically ill patients are forced to remain in the Emergency Department for prolonged periods while waiting for beds in specialist units.
