Karpowership Ghana trains fisherfolk on fire safety, hygiene and financial management
Karpowership Ghana organized a capacity-building training for fishermen and fishmongers from Sekondi and Essikado on Tuesday, August 11. The training focused on environmental safety awareness, fire prevention, hygienic fish handling, and financial management. Sandra Amarquaye, Communications Manager at Karpowership Ghana, stated, "At Karpowership Ghana, we believe that powering communities goes beyond providing electricity. It also means empowering people with the knowledge and skills they need to build safer, stronger and more sustainable livelihoods."
Key institutions involved included the Ghana National Fire Service, Fisheries Commission, and Fidelity Bank. The Ghana National Fire Service educated participants on fire prevention, emergency response, and the safe handling of fire incidents, which was particularly relevant following recent fire incidents at the fishing harbour in Sekondi. This initiative forms part of Karpowership Ghana's commitment to supporting communities through meaningful engagement and programs that provide practical knowledge and skills to improve livelihoods.
