Kantanka's Funeral Cloths Out
Apostle Emeritus Dr. Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's family unveiled specially designed funeral cloths ahead of the final funeral rites. The unveiling took place at a media briefing in Accra on Friday. Two official cloth designs were introduced: a black-and-red cloth for the burial and main funeral ceremonies, and a black-and-white cloth for the thanksgiving service in Kumasi.
Sarah Adwoa Safo, Head of Family and daughter of the late Apostle, addressed journalists and underscored the importance of adhering to the approved dress code. She stated, "We want the events to be orderly and colourful. If everyone follows the directive, it will reflect the honour and respect our father deserves." The funeral cloths are part of a broader program of activities to celebrate the life of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who passed away on September 11, 2025.
The burial ceremony will now take place on July 30, 2026, at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region. A national farewell service will be held on July 31, at Independence Square in Accra. A thanksgiving service is scheduled for August 8, 2026, in Kumasi. These revised funeral dates received the approval of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
