Kantanka family heads to court over Apostle Kwadwo Safo's burial

Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, Head of the Kantanka Family and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana (KAMOG), announced on Monday that the family has instructed its lawyers to commence legal proceedings to ensure the last will of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo is honoured. This decision followed months of failed reconciliation efforts over the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased.

Nana Akofena stated that he and members of the Aduana Kotoko Royal Family had made "every reasonable effort" to unite family members for a dignified burial. He personally undertook reconciliation initiatives with his siblings, including his sister, Former MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, and sought intervention from church elders, chiefs, queen mothers, and other traditional leaders. Nana Akofena raised concerns over the implementation of the late Apostle's Will, which was read by Sarah Adwoa Safo, stating, "Regrettably, in my view, the implementation of those wishes has not proceeded in the manner contemplated by the Will." He specifically cited that "the Kantanka Family has not been given custody of the mortal remains of our late father, notwithstanding the provisions of the Will."
