It was not a fluke - Ibrahim Tanko after Medeama's Premier League success
Ibrahim Tanko dismissed claims that Medeama's 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title success was achieved by luck. He insisted the triumph was the result of hard work and commitment throughout the season. According to Tanko, "It's a good feeling to win the league, but I don't think it was a fluke. We worked very hard for it."
Tanko praised the club's hierarchy, technical staff and players for their collective role in securing the title, describing the achievement as a team effort. He highlighted the club's success in producing four national team players during the season. Tanko said that key victories over Bibiani Gold Stars and Basake Holy Stars convinced him that the title was within reach. He stated, "I think the day we beat Bibiani Gold Stars and the game against Basake Holy Stars, after that game, I was 90 to 95 per cent sure that we were going to win the league." Tanko described Medeama's strong finish against Heart of Lions with one game remaining as another important moment.
Medeama will officially celebrate the achievement at the TNA Park on Wednesday, May 28. Following their league triumph, Medeama will now represent Ghana in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
