IGP promotes five officers over Kwafokrom GOIL filing station robbery arrest
Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), promoted five police officers for their role in the swift arrest of suspects linked to a robbery attack at the GOIL Filling Station at Kwafokrom near Nsawam in the Eastern Region. The recognition follows a robbery incident that occurred on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the filling station, where armed attackers reportedly stormed the premises, shot a security officer and a pump attendant who had taken refuge in an office, and made away with cash and other valuables. Following intelligence-led investigations, police arrested two suspects, while another accomplice remains on the run.
The arrested suspects were later found with weapons and other items believed to have been used in the operation. The IGP awarded promotions to Chief Inspector Eric Otoo, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Otu, General Sergeant Philip Amoah, Policewoman Constable Victoria Asiedu, and Policewoman Constable Rosemond A. Frimpong. Chief Inspectors Eric Otoo and Emmanuel Otu have been granted direct entry into the Police Academy, while General Sergeant Philip Amoah, Policewoman Constable Victoria Asiedu, and Policewoman Constable Rosemond A. Frimpong have all been promoted to their next ranks. The IGP, together with the Police Management Board (POMAB), commended the officers for their professionalism, discipline, and rapid response, which contributed to the arrest of the suspects.
