I only saw my mom in the mortuary - Son of woman killed in New Town building tragedy
The son of a woman killed in the New Town building tragedy shared a heartbreaking account of how he received the news on Monday, March 30, 2026, speaking with Accra-based TV3. He narrated that his mother was at home on Sunday morning when he left for church around 7 AM. He said, "I only got to see my mom in the mortuary."
The young man explained that he received several calls from his siblings while in a church meeting and was informed about the collapse of the building where his mother had gone for service. His 17-year-old sister, who usually attends that church on Sundays, refused to go that day. His mother left home in anger and went to church alone.
