I am suffering, need urgent help - Former NDC communicator battling heart condition
Gabby Asuming, a former constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Dome-Kwabenya, opened up about years of personal hardship, illness, and financial struggle. Speaking on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Asuming said, "I was one of the leading NDC communicators and even trained and introduced some people to party communication." He revealed that "Because of my political affiliation, I lost my job and for eight years, I was home and unemployed." He added, "When the NDC won the 2024 election, I was hopeful I would get something so I could cater for my family."
Mr. Asuming disclosed that his survival has largely depended on the support of his brother-in-law, who lives abroad and provides for him and his family. He said, "My brother-in-law is the one taking care of me and my family. He is abroad. He cautioned me against politics, but I couldn't give up. I have a heart condition. I sometimes go through emotional torture, and I weep in my sleep." He also said, "My child, who is in Level 400, keeps asking if I have offended the NDC in any way, because they don't understand why we have been suffering all these years but for the help of their uncles." He stated that some key figures within the party, including Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, are aware of his condition.
Former Amenfi Central MP, Peter Kwaye Ackah, who was also on the show, offered to support Mr. Asuming with GH¢1,000.
