"I am helpless, losing my mind" - Trader loses 15 shops in Odawna Market fire
Georgina Larbi, also known as "Happy Yourself", lost 15 shops and goods worth over GH¢500,000 in the recent Odawna Plastic Market fire that occurred on a Monday. She stated, "I lost 15 shops in the Odawna Plastic Market fire. I have lost everything and cannot even afford to buy koko to drink." On Wednesday, she considered disguising herself as a blind person to beg for alms, but a man talked her out of it and gave her 100 cedis for food.
Since the fire outbreak on Monday, no government official has visited the affected traders to offer support. Georgina Larbi also stated she lost money and items worth 500,000 cedis, and the only money she took home on Friday was 500 cedis. She is experiencing health complications, including excruciating heart pain, and cannot afford koko to drink to take her BP medicine. Her children are home and cannot go to school.
