Guaman queen mother appeals for extension of Nkoko Nkitinkiti to support rural women
Nana Okrebea II, Queenmother of Buem-Guaman, called on the government to extend the "Nkoko Nkitinkiti" initiative to her community. She made the appeal during a durbar held as part of activities marking the Nnaagyei Bohwii Festival in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region. She stated that this extension would "create employment opportunities and improve livelihoods for rural women."
Nana Okrebea II noted that many women in the area are engaged in low-income economic activities. She stressed that targeted interventions for women in rural communities remain critical in reducing poverty and advancing social development. Parke-Davis Magyigbe, the Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive, commended the community for its contribution to local development and assured residents of the Assembly's commitment to addressing key challenges. He pledged that efforts would be made to provide potable water for the community and upgrade the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to improve access to healthcare. Wisdom Yaw Ofori, the Guaman Youth Leader, also encouraged residents to use the festival to strengthen unity and promote collective responsibility for development.
The Nnaagyei Bohwii Festival continues to serve as a platform for cultural celebration and dialogue between community leaders and residents on key development priorities.
