Gov't to repatriate 1,000 Ghanaians from South Africa
The government will resume the next phase of evacuating its citizens from South Africa on Sunday, July 26. This phase will cover approximately 1,000 Ghanaians and will be conducted in batches. The first evacuation flights are expected to arrive in Accra on Sunday, July 26, and Monday, July 27.
The evacuation will prioritize Ghanaians who have registered with the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria and expressed willingness to return. Priority will be given to women, children, the elderly, persons with medical conditions, and students. The Ghana High Commission in Pretoria has reactivated its emergency consular response system. The government expressed appreciation to the Ghanaian leadership of the Church of Pentecost in Pretoria and Johannesburg, as well as Global Kingdom Investment Pty. Ltd., for providing free temporary accommodation.
