Govt to build regional hospital in Western North amid flood crisis
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister for Health, announced the development of a new regional hospital in the Western North Region during the Free Primary Healthcare tour of the region. The Western North Region is among the first three newly created regions selected to receive a regional hospital under the 2026 Budget. He appealed to traditional authorities to ensure land allocated for the project is properly documented to prevent future ownership disputes that could delay construction.
Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, Acting Sefwi Wiawso Paramount Chief, assured the government that the traditional council is prepared to provide suitable land for the project. He pledged the land would be properly secured and documented. The hospital is expected to improve access to specialist and quality healthcare services for residents and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for medical care.
