Gideon Mensah joins FC Köln on a two year deal after Auxerre exit
Gideon Mensah has completed a move to Bundesliga side FC Köln ahead of the 2026/27 season, signing a two-year contract with the German club. The 27-year-old left-back joins Köln as a free agent after ending his four-year association with French Ligue 1 outfit AJ Auxerre.
Mensah became available after his contract with Auxerre expired, with both parties unable to reach an agreement over an extension. During the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season, Mensah made 30 league appearances and provided two assists for Auxerre. He featured in every minute of Ghana's four matches during a FIFA World Cup campaign in North America, where the Black Stars progressed to the Round of 32 before elimination by Colombia.
