Ghana and Gabon sign two agreements to strengthen bilateral relations

Ghana and Gabon signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday, July 28, at the Jubilee House in Accra. The agreements aim to enhance diplomatic engagement and institutional cooperation between the two countries. The signing followed bilateral talks between President John Dramani Mahama and his Gabonese counterpart, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.

The meeting focused on expanding cooperation across key sectors and reinforcing the longstanding relationship between the two West African nations. President Mahama and President Oligui Nguema expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations that have existed between Ghana and Gabon over the years and pledged to translate their strong political ties into tangible economic partnerships. They agreed to strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, and private sector development, taking advantage of opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Priority areas for cooperation include mining, oil and gas, energy, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, climate action, maritime affairs, education, digital transformation, health, tourism, and defence and security. The Presidents directed relevant ministries and state institutions to develop practical frameworks for collaboration.
