Gender Minister visits Bukom, consoles families after tragedy
Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, together with Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, visited Bukom to commiserate with families affected by a recent tragic accident. The accident claimed the life of a young woman and left several others injured. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey expressed Government's heartfelt condolences, stating, "We are here to express our deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family and all those who were injured. It is heartbreaking that a young lady in the prime of her life has been lost. We pray for speedy recovery of those receiving medical care and wish them strength as they heal."
President Mahama directed the ministers to visit after learning of the incident through media reports. The delegation visited the accident scene, the home of the bereaved family, and the residences of some survivors. Some victims remain on admission, while others have been discharged. Government will assess the needs of the injured to determine appropriate support. For the bereaved family, Government will await necessary feedback due to the matter being before the court. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey stressed the need to improve road safety.
