Four arrested as Police recover 17 stolen motorbikes in Upper West
The Upper West Regional Police Command recovered 17 stolen motorbikes and arrested four suspects during a special anti-robbery operation. The operation was aimed at tackling motorbike theft and other violent crimes in the region, with a statement issued on Thursday, July 23, indicating it formed part of intensified efforts to clamp down on criminal activities. The four suspects, Yusif Mohammed Ali, Abdulai Ibrahim, Abubakar Abdul Rashid, and Mustapha Abdul Aziz Posy, were arrested between July 11 and July 15 in Wa, Charia, and Hamile.
Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects were involved in the theft and sale of motorbikes, and they have reportedly admitted to the offences. Investigations also led to the arrest of four additional individuals suspected of purchasing some of the stolen motorbikes. The suspects have been remanded into custody by the Wa Circuit Court and are expected to reappear on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Police have appealed to owners of stolen motorbikes to visit their respective District Police Headquarters with valid proof of ownership.
