Floods: Two bodies recovered at Adakope near Weija
Two bodies were recovered on the evening of Thursday, July 2, at Adakope near Weija in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. Wilfred Ayitey Blankson, Presiding Member for the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, confirmed the incident and said the victims are believed to have been swept away by floodwaters. The bodies have been conveyed by police to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for preservation and further investigations.
Mr. Blankson has appealed to the Ministry of Local Government to urgently support the Assembly with funding to help address the recurring flooding challenges in the area. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, announced that the government will begin distributing relief items to flood-affected communities across the country from Saturday, July 4.
