First Lady honoured for impactful contributions to rural communities
First Lady Lordina Mahama was honored on Mother's Day by Obonu TV, a subsidiary of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. Management and some staff of Obonu TV paid a courtesy call to present hampers and a citation in recognition of her social impact initiatives. The gesture forms part of Obonu TV's Mother's Day celebration under the theme "Hands That Hold Villages: Celebrating Women Whose Care Builds Communities," an initiative aimed at recognising the contributions of exceptional women who provide essential services in rural and underserved communities.
Madam Audrey Esaamuah, who led the Obonu TV delegation, said that the Lordina Foundation has become a household name in many rural communities because of its impactful projects. She noted that the team believed Her Excellency Lordina Mahama was deserving of the recognition on this special Mother's Day occasion, saying, "As part of our Mother's Day celebration, we decided to honour a mother who has been touching many lives in rural areas, and we are glad to celebrate her social impact initiatives." Loreva Fragrance sponsored the hamper as part of its collaboration with Obonu TV to recognise women who have positively impacted the lives of people in rural communities.
Dr. George Quarcoe, a board member of the Lordina Foundation, received the gifts on behalf of the foundation's founder and president and expressed gratitude to the Obonu TV team for the gesture. He said, "We are very happy to receive you this afternoon. Our mother, the First Lady, is very honoured by this generous gesture and extends her appreciation to you all." Other board members present at the presentation were Madam Ruby Forson and Ms. Annette Ankrah.
