First-ever Wa Vendors Expo sparks economic boom and empowers female entrepreneurs
The First-ever Wa Vendors Expo transformed the forecourt of the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (Ministries) into a bustling epicentre of commerce and networking. The two-day trade fair, organized by Mary Baalie, CEO of Masung Royal Stores, successfully drew vendors from across the country to one central location. Baalie explained, "It's a trade fair that brings businesses together. We are primarily focused on empowering women, especially those in business, and it also helps create valuable business connections."
The expo was borne out of a desire to elevate female entrepreneurs and streamline regional trade, bridging the gap for locals who struggle to access wholesale suppliers directly. Kanton Farihana, a vendor at Stand 2 selling items like cloth bags and towels for as little as GH₵10, was overwhelmed by the patronage, stating she had not rested since morning. Taadu Amanda, representing Fragrance World by Ella, praised the initiative.
