Firefighters avert explosion after fuel tanker accident at Adidome Dorfor
Firefighters averted an explosion in the early hours of Friday at Adidome Dorfor after a fuel tanker carrying petrol overturned. The Ghana National Fire Service responded to the incident. According to a Facebook update from the Service, the tanker, with registration number GT 5867-21, lost control, veered off its lane and fell onto its side.
The Adidome Fire Station received a distress call and dispatched a response team led by ASTN/O Gabienu Perry. The crew was mobilised at 12:19 pm and arrived at the scene at about 12:30 pm. Firefighters assessed the situation and identified a high risk due to the presence of flammable petrol. The team applied foam concentrate to cool the tanker and stabilise the situation to prevent any outbreak of fire or explosion.
The incident was brought under control by around 1:00 pm without any reported casualties. At about 11:00 am, a recovery truck from the Ghana National Fire Service removed the tanker from the scene, allowing traffic to resume.
