Ghana National Fire Service deployed rescue teams to several flood-hit communities following heavy morning rains that caused significant flooding in parts of Accra and surrounding areas. Affected locations include Ningo, Miotso, Ridge Hospital, Kasoa, Gomoa Nyanyano, Tema New Town, Abeka, Lapaz, Achimota, Dzorwulu, Tesano, Tantra Hills, Atomic in Madina, Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction, and sections of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange. The downpour severely disrupted Monday morning activities, with major roads submerged and traffic brought to a near standstill.
The Tetteh Quarshie Interchange is heavily choked, and the stretch under the rail line overpass from the Spintex Road roundabout towards the Polo Grounds and Hajj Village area is completely flooded. Commuters on the N1 Highway from Kasoa through Weija and Mallam are facing serious difficulties. Homes and shops in several low-lying communities have been inundated, forcing residents to move belongings. The National Disaster Management Organisation also issued an alert confirming flooding in parts of Accra and Tema, advising residents to remain vigilant and avoid flood-prone areas. Emergency teams are working to assist affected residents.
