Enimil Ashon: The Mosquito has started biting
Enimil Ashon writes that the NDC's Thank You tours are getting one too many. Johnson Asiedu Nketia's Thank You tour in Tamale clashed with President Mahama's tour in Sawla within the same constituency in the same week. Mahama did the 16 regions last year.
The Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Dafeamekpor, explained the rationale for the Chairman's tour. Haruna Iddrisu's reference to "curtain-raiser" or "fake thank you" suggests he was aware of the Chairman's presence in the constituency. Asiedu Nketia "accidentally" happened to be at Peace FM on December 14. He commented on a leaked tape whose contents suggested that the party's defeat in 2020 was a direct result of national-level leadership failure. Asiedu Nketia claims that "on the night of the 2020 election...the system that the (NDC) Director of IT brought and touted as robust, crashed after collation of results of five regions," which is why he said he "did not bring any results" to court. Asiedu Nketia referred to Haruna as "my boy" in Tamale.
Quick Summary
The NDC's Thank You tours are raising eyebrows, particularly regarding coordination between party leaders - Johnson Asiedu Nketia and President Mahama. The clash in itineraries and Asiedu Nketia's remarks about the 2023 reshuffle hint at deeper tensions within the party.
