Engage Now Africa, Ensign Global University sensitise students on human trafficking
Engage Now Africa, in partnership with Ensign Global University, sensitised more than 3,000 students of Suhum Technical Secondary School (SUTESCO) in the Eastern Region on Friday, July 31, 2026, to the dangers of human trafficking, online exploitation, and cybercrime. The sensitisation seminar was held under the theme "Protecting Our Children; Ending Human Trafficking in Ghana."
The organisers stated that the changing nature of technology has created new avenues for traffickers and cybercriminals to target children and young people. They noted that fake job advertisements, fraudulent scholarship offers, online recruitment schemes, romance scams, and deceptive messages on social media and gaming platforms were increasingly being used to lure unsuspecting victims. Students were encouraged to exercise caution when engaging with strangers online, critically assess opportunities presented through digital platforms, protect personal information, verify job and scholarship offers through trusted sources, and report suspicious online activities. The organisers stressed that preventing human trafficking requires sustained public education, particularly among young people exposed to digital risks.
