Energy Minister engages NPA on implementation of GH¢2 diesel price relief

Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, engaged the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and key stakeholders to implement the government's directive to reduce the price of diesel by GH¢2.00 per litre. This action follows a directive by President John Dramani Mahama aimed at cushioning consumers against rising fuel prices and reducing the cost of living. Dr. Jinapor stated, "Following the directive of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama to cushion consumers of diesel through a reduction of GHS2.00 per litre, I engaged the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and relevant stakeholders to discuss the implementation of this intervention."

The reduction will take effect for one month throughout August 2026 and will be reviewed based on prevailing market conditions and other relevant factors. Dr. Jinapor noted that this temporary intervention demonstrates the government's commitment to easing the financial burden on consumers while maintaining stability in the downstream petroleum industry. He assured the public that the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition would continue to monitor developments in the petroleum market and adopt practical measures to safeguard the interests of Ghanaians.
