Don't use 'funny tricks' to undermine government's diesel relief - Dr Tutu-Boahene

Dr. Bernard Tutu-Boahene, a lecturer in Political Marketing at the University of Education, Winneba, urged commercial drivers, market women, and producers to ensure the government's decision to reduce diesel prices translates into real benefits for consumers. His comments were made on Tuesday, August 4, on JoyNews' AM Show. This follows President John Dramani Mahama's directive for the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to absorb GH¢2 on every litre of diesel.

Dr. Tutu-Boahene welcomed the move, describing it as a positive step towards easing cost-of-living pressures. He stated, "I think it's good. When you look at the decision of the government, basically it's to bring relief to the transport sector." He added that the transport sector is critical in determining the cost of goods and services, and reducing fuel prices could help control food inflation and improve living standards. He also noted that this intervention follows a similar government decision earlier in the year to reduce fuel-related costs.
