'Disregard the rumours' - Adwoa Safo insists father's funeral dates stand
Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Dome-Kwabenya MP, insists the final funeral and burial rites for her father, the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, will begin on Thursday, July 30, 2026, as previously announced. She stated, "On the 30th of July, we will go to Gomoa Mpota to bury my late father. On the 31st of July, we will be at Independence Square to hold the funeral service. Then, on the 8th of August, we will travel to Asante Mampong in Kumasi for the thanksgiving service. So everyone should disregard the rumours that the funeral will not take place or that it has been cancelled."
This directly contradicts her brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, who announced on Monday that the July 30 date was null and void due to unresolved disagreements. Adwoa Safo dismissed the cancellation, stating the funeral committee had finalized arrangements after consulting with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and former President John Agyekum Kufuor. She also revealed she underwent surgery after sustaining gunshot injuries during the coronation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I.
