Deputy Transport Minister Affo-Toffey inspects 100 new buses for MMTL
Deputy Transport Minister Dorcas Affo-Toffey inspected 100 new Isuzu buses on Thursday, April 16, 2026 in Egypt. The buses were procured from Egypt and are expected to be handed over to Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL).
The inspection team was led by Deputy Transport Minister Affo-Toffey, acting on behalf of Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe. Minister Nikpe has reportedly tasked his deputy with oversight responsibility for MMTL. The 29-seater buses form part of a planned fleet of 300 vehicles. Madam Affo-Toffey expressed gratitude to the people of Ghana for their patience during the transport challenges. She said the arrival of the buses proves government's commitment to delivering on its promise of 300 buses announced in the State of the Nation Address. She acknowledged that while the buses will not fully resolve transport challenges, they will significantly reduce congestion.
The full supply is expected to be delivered in batches of 100 buses, with the final tranche scheduled to arrive by August 2026. Madam Affo-Toffey assured that the first batch of 100 buses will soon be deployed nationwide.
