The death toll in the Etukrom STC bus crash rose to three as an 11-year-old girl succumbed to injuries on Monday, August 3, 2026. The crash occurred at Etukrom near Bonsu Junction in the Eastern Region. Eastern Regional Fire Service Public Relations Officer, DOIII Ohemeng Adu Aaron, confirmed the update to MyJoyOnline. Two people were initially confirmed dead after the accident.
The STC bus, the fuel tanker, and the Mitsubishi pick-up were completely burnt, while the Kia Sorento was extensively damaged. Seven injured persons, including five males and two females, were initially transported to Hawa Memorial Hospital. The 11-year-old girl, an injured victim from the Kia Sorento, later passed away while receiving treatment. The vehicles involved were a fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi pick-up with registration number GE 8602-17, a Kia Sorento with registration number GT 8601-14, and an STC bus with registration number GS 7050-22. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
