Cyclist rides from Yeji to Jirapa, wins motorbike from Anwelle Foundation
Tiekan Joseph, known as "Hero," was honoured with a brand new Apsonic AP125-30 motorbike by the Anwelle Foundation in recognition of his 525-kilometre bicycle journey from Yeji to Jirapa during this year's B'ong-ngo Festival. The award was formally presented by Mr. Frank Anwelle, Chief Executive Officer of the Anwelle Foundation, together with the Paramount Chief of Jirapa, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa, at a grand durbar marking the 2026 Bong-ngo feast.
The presentation was attended by special guests, including Upper West Regional Minister Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, Member of Parliament for the Jirapa Constituency Hon. Cletus S. Dapilah, and Jirapa MCE Hon. Peter N. To-ang. Hero, a teacher based in Yeji and a native of Jirapa Nambeg, undertook the four-day cycling journey to promote the Bong-ngo Festival and encourage bicycle riding as a healthy lifestyle. His journey included overnight stops in Apesika, Tinga, and Sawla.
Muskila Motors supported Hero with a cash donation of GH₵1,000 to help him purchase fuel for the motorbike. The Anwelle Foundation noted that the gesture aligns with its broader objectives of promoting youth empowerment, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and supporting community-driven initiatives.
