Court issues bench warrant for arrest of Vakpo Chief Linguist
Evans Siale, the Chief Linguist of Vakpo, is subject to a bench warrant issued by the District Magistrate Court at Vakpo in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region. The warrant was issued in a case where Siale is charged with defrauding by false pretense.
Siale allegedly collected GH¢8,000 and 12 bottles of gin from members of the Obimpeh family to file a case at the Vakpo Traditional Council. This was after another family allegedly performed strange rituals in the Obimpeh family house at Vakpo in November of last year. The Obimpeh family withdrew the summons after a few months without hearing from the traditional council, only to be told that no such summon had been filed. The family confronted Siale, who could not provide a reason for not filing the summon or refund the money and gin. The case was reported to the police, leading to Siale's arrest and processing for court.
The case was called on April 1, but the accused did not appear. The court, presided over by Comfort Asamoah Sarpong, issued the bench warrant for Siale's arrest. The case will be called again on April 22.
