Court grants injunction against Daddy Lumba's 'Celebration of Life' event
High Court in Accra granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the planned "Celebration of Life" event for late highlife icon Daddy Lumba. The event was scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Independence Square and other locations. The statement noted, "By upholding this injunction, the Court totally prohibits any attempt to proceed with the celebration of life or any such event."
The order follows an application filed by the Head of Family of the Ekuona Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta, Abusuapanin Victor Kofi Owusu, popularly known as Abusuapanin Tupac. The court order specifically bars Nana Yaw Akosa (aka Papa Shee), Akosua Serwaa Schindler (Fosuh), Ernestina Fosuh (Brempoma), Wofa Yaw Poku, and their agents from organising, promoting, or hosting the event. Baba Jamal & Associates issued a statement explaining the court order.
The legal representatives signalled their readiness to pursue further action against any breaches, stating, "We shall not hesitate to initiate committal proceedings against any individual who seeks to undermine the authority of the Court." The statement concluded with a call for calm and sensitivity, saying, "We call for peace and respect for the family and the children at this moment."
