Council of State Member demands EOCO Boss apologise or face lawsuit, petitions President Mahama for his dismissal
Gabriel T.K.A Kwamigah-Atokple, Volta Regional representative on the Council of State, demanded on March 30, 2026, that Raymond Archer, EOCO's Acting Executive Director, issue an "immediate public apology or face legal action." Kwamigah-Atokple also petitioned President John Mahama to dismiss both Archer and his deputy. The petition cites abuse of authority, disregard for judicial decisions, and misuse of EOCO's investigative powers.
The dispute began in November 2025, when EOCO investigated Kwamigah-Atokple's company, Sesi-Edem Company Limited, over allegations of defrauding by false pretences and money laundering linked to a commercial transaction with JG Resources Ltd. EOCO ordered the freezing of the company's bank accounts on November 20, 2025. Kwamigah-Atokple maintains his company complied with all requests and that by November 2025, at least 58% of the contracted gold had already been delivered under the agreement covering June 2025 to June 2026. The High Court, Adentan ruled on March 19, 2026, that EOCO had acted without lawful mandate and ordered the immediate defreezing of the company's accounts.
Kwamigah-Atokple accuses EOCO of defying the Court by continuing its investigation and publicly challenging the judgment. He alleges that Archer declared him a wanted person without a formal invitation. Kwamigah-Atokple argues that EOCO has developed a pattern of prioritising public sensationalism over lawful enforcement since Archer assumed office.
