Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, former Chief Executive Officer for the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), was flown home in handcuffs in 2024, two years after her conviction, to serve 10 years for allegedly stealing millions in public money. In 2019, she left Ghana for the United States for a medical check-up and did not return, leading the court to rule her absence unjustified and continue the trial without her. On April 16, 2024, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe convicted her on multiple counts and sentenced her to 10 years' imprisonment with hard labour in absentia.
