Consult Akufo-Addo on economy - Annoh-Dompreh tells Mahama amid cocoa crisis

Frank Annoh-Dompreh urged President John Dramani Mahama to seek guidance from former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on managing the economy. This occurred amid growing concerns over the cocoa sector and broader economic challenges.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh criticised what he described as the government's inability to effectively manage the economy within a short period in office. He stated that the Akufo-Addo administration sustained the economy, paid workers, and maintained essential services such as electricity and water supply even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Annoh-Dompreh said that it would not be out of place for President Mahama to consult his predecessor for advice, stressing that leadership should focus on delivering results rather than personal pride.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh spoke during an engagement with cocoa farmers in the Bekwai District as part of the Minority Caucus' tour of cocoa-growing communities in the Ashanti Region.
