Commissioner General of Ghana Boundary Commission concludes five-day operational assessment in Oti region
Major General Anthony Ntem, Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC), concluded a 5-day operational assessment and stakeholder engagements along sections of the Ghana/Togo International Boundary in the Oti Region. The assessment and engagements were conducted in the Kadjebi District, Nkwanta South Municipality, and Nkwanta North District from 27 to 31 July 2026. The assessment forms part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to strengthen boundary governance, enhance border security, deepen stakeholder engagement at the border community level, and ensure the integration of border communities into Ghana's boundary management.
The assessment also aimed to assess development and human security challenges confronting communities along Ghana's Eastern frontier, combining stakeholder consultations, community forums, field inspections, and the assessment of International Boundary Pillars (IBPs). Following engagements in the Kadjebi District with residents of Ampeyoo, Ahamansu, and Butabe at Dodi Papaso, the Commissioner General and his delegation visited the Nkwanta South Municipality. There, they were joined by MCE Joseph Awal Abubakari Antwi to interact with Traditional Authorities, Assembly Officials, and residents of Dadiase, Kue, and Chillinga. Discussions focused on boundary management, security concerns, cross-border cooperation, and socio-economic challenges affecting the communities. Representatives from the 3 communities highlighted the poor state of development in their communities.
