Children of a popular pastor identified as victims of the tragic Tema helicopter crash
Frank Donkor and his younger brother were identified as victims of the helicopter crash on March 16, 2026, in Tema Community One. The victims are the sons of Elder Frank Kwabena Donkor, founder of Hebron Prayer Camp near Nsawam. Captain Frank Donkor, described as a seasoned airman with both Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) ratings, took his brother for a ride on the microlight helicopter, which led to the tragic accident.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority stated the helicopter crashed as it was flying from Accra to Kumasi at around 15:20. The authority indicated that the last communication it had with the pilot of the helicopter was around 14:00 on Monday, March 16, 2026. The microlight helicopter is a small, lightweight aircraft designed mainly for recreational flying, flight training, aerial photography and agricultural observation. Most microlights have a maximum take-off weight of about 450-600 kilograms, depending on regulations. The microlight helicopter usually carries one or two people - a pilot and sometimes one passenger. Screenshots of social media posts of the helicopter, shared by TV3, suggest that it is about 25 years old.
