CAF declare Morocco AFCON 2025 winners with final results overturned
CAF (Confederation Africaine de Football) declared Morocco the winners of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 after overturning the final match results. The CAF Appeal Board applied Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and declared the Senegal National Team forfeited the final match. The result of the match was recorded as 3-0 in favor of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).
The FRMF lodged an appeal regarding the application of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The CAF Appeal Board upheld the appeal, setting aside the CAF Disciplinary Board decision. The board found that the conduct of the Senegal team fell within the scope of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations and declared that the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), through the conduct of its team, infringed Article 82 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The CAF Appeal Board also addressed an appeal regarding Mr. Ismaël Saibari (Player No. 11 of the Morocco National Team). While confirming that Mr. Saibari committed misconduct in violation of Articles 82 and 83(1) of the CAF Disciplinary Code, the board amended his sanction to a suspension of two official CAF matches, with one match suspended. The fine of USD 100,000 imposed on Mr. Saibari was set aside.
