Bono East House of Chiefs intervenes in 15-year Konkomba chieftaincy dispute

Bono East House of Chiefs intervened in a 15-year Konkomba chieftaincy dispute in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region. The President and Vice President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs visited the Konkomba Traditional Area to mediate the dispute, which has stalled the installation of a substantive chief. The delegation, led by Nana Owusu Sakyi III, engaged chiefs, queen mothers, and elders. Nana Owusu Sakyi III stated, "Development can only thrive in the area when there is peace and unity among the chiefs. We therefore urge all sides to put aside their differences and work together to resolve the issues."

Nana Owusu Sakyi III also said peace and unity among traditional leaders were essential for development and that the protracted dispute could undermine efforts to improve living conditions. He appealed to the feuding parties to put aside their differences and work together to resolve the issues that have kept the chieftaincy dispute in court for several years. The Queen Mother of the Konkomba Traditional Area, Nana Boakyewaa Yedeah, appealed to the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs to help end the dispute. She expressed hope that with the intervention, parties would reach an understanding to pave the way for the selection and installation of a new chief by next year.
