BoG Opens Monetary Policy Process to Students in Transparency Drive
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) launched the Monetary Policy Committee Educational Observership Programme (MPC-EOP) during the 131st Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings. This initiative aims to demystify the country's monetary policy process and strengthen public confidence in the central bank's work. Selected students from the University of Ghana were given the opportunity to witness how the Bank arrives at decisions on the Monetary Policy Rate.
The program is part of the Central Bank's commitment to transparency, public engagement, and promoting a deeper understanding of monetary policy among future economists, researchers, and policymakers. Participants received an orientation on the Bank's mandate, Ghana's monetary policy framework, and the role of the Monetary Policy Committee. They then observed technical presentations by Bank officials and invited experts on various economic indicators, illustrating the depth of analysis underpinning monetary policy decisions.
