Black Stars 'too big' for Otto Addo to manage -Sonnie Badu
Sonnie Badu suggested that Otto Addo may not be the best fit to lead Ghana's senior national team after the Black Stars' latest match against Germany. Badu said that while he has regained some confidence in Otto Addo, the role of managing the senior national team may be too demanding for him. He wrote on Instagram, "After last night's match, I gained some hope in Otto, but I think the senior national team was too big a responsibility for him. Maybe he'd be a better fit for one of the junior national teams."
Badu proposed that Otto Addo should rather be given a job to handle one of Ghana's junior national teams. He endorsed former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah as the ideal candidate to take over the team, even if on a short-term basis. According to him, the immediate concern should be finding a capable replacement ahead of crucial upcoming assignments, including the World Cup. He said Akwesi Appiah "knows all the players, has tons of experience, and can lead the team effectively."
Badu cautioned against appointing a foreign coach at this stage, arguing that such a move would require time for adaptation, which the team currently lacks. He noted, "We can't risk having them lose and then say they didn't have enough time with the players," stressing the need for continuity and familiarity within the squad. The musician's comments add to ongoing public debate about the future of the Black Stars' technical direction as Ghana seeks to strengthen its performance on the international stage following the sacking of Otto Addo.
Quick Summary
Sonnie Badu believes Otto Addo may not be the right person to manage the Black Stars- despite recent improvements. He suggests Addo would be better suited for a junior national team, sparking debate about who should lead the team.
