Bimbilla NPP Chairman withdraws resignation, returns to office
Mbow Mohammed, the Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Bimbilla, has withdrawn his resignation and announced his decision to return to office effective Wednesday, May 20, 2026. His decision comes barely a day after he formally resigned from the position, with the resignation taking effect on Monday, May 18, 2026.
In a letter dated Tuesday, May 19, addressed to the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Mohammed said he reconsidered his decision following "overwhelming interventions, appeals and encouragement from party executives and supporters at various levels of the party." According to him, the appeals came from polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, regional executives and members of the party's national leadership. He stated that the show of confidence, concern and commitment to party unity deeply influenced his decision to rescind his resignation and return to office.
Mr. Mohammed also expressed gratitude to the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba, for his leadership and efforts towards peace, reconciliation and unity within the party. He said, "It is therefore in the supreme interest of the party, the constituency, and our shared vision towards victory in the 2028 general elections and beyond that I accept the calls to return and continue serving in my capacity as Constituency Chairman." In his earlier resignation letter, Mr. Mohammed indicated that the decision followed careful reflection after years of service to the NPP in various capacities since 1992.
