Bibiani Fire Commander dies days after warning over rising fire outbreaks

Divisional Officer One (DO I) Enock Tetteh, the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Fire Commander, died in the early hours of Tuesday after reportedly complaining of severe chest and back pains. He was pronounced dead at the Reed Danos Medical Centre. Days before his passing, he granted an interview to Adom News in which he disclosed that the municipality had recorded 50 fire outbreaks within the first half of the year. He stated that these incidents, which included domestic, vehicular, and mechanical fires, exceeded figures recorded during the same period in previous years despite sustained public education campaigns.

The cause of his death is yet to be established. DO I Tetteh had served as the Municipal Fire Commander in Bibiani for nearly four years. During the interview, he urged residents to observe fire safety measures, particularly those who use candles and other naked flames in their homes, advising the public to extinguish candles before going to bed and remain vigilant to prevent avoidable fire outbreaks. His sudden death has come as a shock to colleagues, residents, and members of the Ghana National Fire Service.
