Berekum Chelsea set to resume training on Monday after fatal robbery attack
Berekum Chelsea will return to training on Monday, April 20, 2026, following a robbery attack. The club's Public Relations Officer, Isaac Obeng, confirmed the decision after activities were temporarily halted.
The attack occurred last Sunday along the Ahyiresu-Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District. The team was travelling back to Berekum after a Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex. Club official Dominic Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the Bibiani Government Hospital. Several players suffered minor injuries. Isaac Obeng revealed that some squad members are still undergoing medical assessment, while others have been cleared to gradually resume training.
The Ghana Football Association has postponed the club's Matchday 30 fixture to May 6. Police investigations are ongoing, with two suspects-including an alleged gang leader-already in custody.
