Assin Central NPP elects new constituency executives ahead of 2028 polls
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin Central Constituency elected a new set of constituency executives following a keenly contested internal election, as the party steps up preparations for the 2028 general elections. Emmanuel Akuamoah Boateng, the former Constituency Secretary, defeated incumbent Attakora Amaniampong and Joseph Anninkora Kutin for Constituency Chairman with 340 votes. Attakora Amaniampong polled 215 votes, while Joseph Anninkora Kutin obtained 265 votes.
Other executives elected include Lucas Osei Asiedu as First Vice Chairman, Francis Osei Mensah Buobu as Second Vice Chairman, Frederick Essuman as Constituency Secretary, Jonah Berko as Treasurer, Simon Sobeng as Deputy Secretary, Aminu Rhino Awudu as NASARA Coordinator, Gloria Tei as Women's Organiser, John Pobee as Youth Organiser, and Yahaya Mohammed as Communications Officer. Some party supporters described the outcome as a positive step toward strengthening the party ahead of the next general elections, believing the election represented a "rescue mission" for the constituency.
